I retract a previous blog. If you read Terry Goodkind's Sword of truth series, I wouldn't recommend watching the TV series.

It's a notch above a sci Fi original, but don't get your hopes up like I did ._.

"LeRoi Moore, saxophonist and founding member of Dave Matthews Band, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 2008, at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles from sudden complications stemming from his June ATV accident on his farm near Charlottesville, Virginia. Moore had recently returned to his Los Angeles home to begin an intensive physical rehabilitation program."

All I have to say is.. Wow... I read Game Informer Magazine and Xbox Magazine. Reading both makes me realize you can't just read one source on games. Getting down to what I'm annoyed with, in Game Informers' May 2008 Issue, a huge black and red image meets the eye. Another annoyingly similar ad for GoW2. The fact that I hate the new advertisements is beside the point. Anyhow, I was eager to read up on the new content of GoW2. Nothing, to my knowledge, had really been released about the game content other than the silly little trailer they released. I began reading, or tried to. I noticed immediately the extremely poor writing abilities of the author of the article. As I was reading it, aloud to someone, I had extreme difficulty with the flow of it. Normally I'm a great reader, but this really made me stumble over overly complex words, run-on sentences, and TERRIBLY used commas. I am a 4 year college student and still had difficulty with some words. I could not believe the commas. And even spelling mistakes!! I plan to write a complaint or something. I'll tell them to give me a call if they need help proof-reading.
Now, I'm not claiming to be extremely gifted in the written arts, as a matter of fact, I'm a terrible speller. But for such a huge article (12 pages or 6 spreads) To have so many mistakes is unacceptable.

Now to the next part of my outrage, Gears of War 2. I gotta say, when it comes to story line, GoW1 wasn't extremely deep. Which was fine by me, I thought the campaign was excellent.

----I'll pause here so people who would rather read the article themselves can stop reading and make their own opinion on it without outside influence---

Introduce-- Domonic Santiago, apparently married, with 2 kids. I had no idea. Maybe I didn't pay enough attention, maybe they were too subtle, I don't know. They finally introduce another a female character and it turns out to be someone who runs off because what was lost to her was too great a burden. I feel sad, I was hoping for something better in the department for awesome female characters. Anya is great, but plays a behind-the-scenes role. Anyhow, female characters in games is also another matter.
Well say good bye to Cole and Baird in the long term campaign apparently. replaced by a stereotypical cowboy and a mystical type. I'm not sure how the mystical guy is going to fit in with the main guys, I guess we'll see. Two new weapons were unveiled, I hope that the better weapons will be saved as a surprise and this won't be it. New characters/locust types to be introduced as well. The Kantas, a monk type, seems interesting. This aspect leads me to believe that in the multilayer, choosing your character will not only be done by simply who's your favorite character, but by special abilities. I am really excited about how that may turn out.
The introduction of a much much deeper storyline will be welcomed by many I'm sure, but also rejected by the hard-core crowd that was drawn to the game for it's harshness and gruesome graphics. I don't want to lump everyone into a group there either. I think Cliffy B's attention to the "new Gamers" is beginning to ruin the idea of gears of war. In addition to the "X" factor of GoW1 that made everyone "equal" (yeah right), which I hope is changed, they are adding a fourth difficulty to the game that is a step easier than casual. Not to mention the incorporation of a new system of difficulty in co-op. If you are playing the game on insane and your little brother or someone wants to join in ( you should say no depending on age anyhow, games are rated Mature for a reason) they can join in on an easier difficulty setting rather than you quitting and starting a new game.
In closing to this entry, I would like to apologize to anyone who reads this and is offended. It was written in an irritated state which that typically leads to harsher judgments. I just really feel like while trying to incorporate new gamers into the genre, Epic is leaving behind all of the old fans. There are better games to do draw in new people than a game like gears of war. If it's too hard or gross, play a different game.
